Professional Organizations

American Library Association

It's mission is to "promote library service and librarianship". Contains guidelines, fact sheets and toolkits.

American Association of School Librarians

A division of ALA for school librarians. Has a link to the best websites for teaching and learning 21st century skills and has great articles and advocacy help.

Association for Educational Communications and Technology

Helps educators with instruction through technology. It is a "major organization for those actively involved in the designing of instruction and a systematic approach to learning".

National Education Association

It's goal is to give every child a quality education. Contains lesson plans and classroom mgt. tips. Also has a link for grants.

Institute for Library and Information Literacy Education

Provides leadership in creating collaboration with teachers and school LMS. Has grade level checklists for standards per content area. The pathfinders for numerous subjects are something to remember.

Ohio Educational Library Media Association

Biggest and best Ohio organizations for school library media personnel

Young Adult Library Services Association

Its "mission is to advocate, promote and strengthen library service to teens, ages 12-18." Has a lot of book lists and houses the "Teen Read Week" information.
